Stunning graphics presentation and innovative folding carton construction create a windowed package with intense shelf impact.
GREEN BAY, Wis., June 10, 2015—WS Packaging Group, Inc. has received the “Best of Division” award for Cartons and Containers as part of the Graphics Excellence Awards competition from the Great Lakes Graphics Association. The competition drew entrants from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.
WS Packaging received the award for a pyramid-shaped folding carton with a window it produced for Meguiar’s Black Wax, a car finish treatment specially formulated for dark colors. The carton was produced at the WS Packaging Group facility in Oak Creek, Wis.
The gusseted carton was offset printed using four-color process, with matte strike-through spot varnish and a UV coating. Horizontally graded embossed lines run perpendicular along the left edge of a curved and clear polypropylene window that showcases the seven–ounce tube of the product. The matte strike-thru spot varnish highlights and adds dimension to the word “paste” that is vertically printed to the right side of the window. The spot varnish is also used on the back panel of the carton to add visual depth to a photo, showing the product tube and the special applicator pad that comes in the box.
“Shelf impact is all about helping brands succeed at the moment of truth, when the consumer sees the product at retail,” said Jon Botting, VP offset region, WS Packaging Group. “Our ability to leverage a full range of printing techniques and finishing effects for the Meguiar’s carton fulfills the vision of the packaging designer. Our goal is giving brands life. And we do that by combining craftsmanship and print technology in ways that make packaging shine.”
